On April 25, 2025, the Supreme Court cautioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi against making defamatory remarks about freedom fighters like Veer Savarkar, emphasizing that such statements should not be made “without knowing the history.” The court warned it would take suo motu cognizance if Gandhi repeats such remarks.
The apex court’s observations came while staying criminal defamation proceedings against Gandhi in a Lucknow court, stemming from his comments about Savarkar, who endured over a decade in the Cellular Jail in the Andaman Islands. A bench of Justices Dipankar Datta and Manmohan halted the proceedings but expressed concern over Gandhi’s claim that Savarkar was a “servant of the British.” Justice Datta questioned if Mahatma Gandhi could be similarly labeled for using “your faithful servant” in letters to the Viceroy.

The logical question that arises in my mind as an astrologer is—why? Why was I unable to foresee such an event unfolding?
The native has a Tula Lagna horoscope, with Lagna Vargottama, and is currently under the Dasha of Rahu–Saturn–Ketu. Saturn, being a Yogakaraka, is debilitated in the 7th house and is aspected by Jupiter from the Lagna. Jupiter, notably, is the 6th lord (litigation) and 3rd lord (communication). Miscommunication during the Bharat Jodo Yatra on November 17, 2022, at a rally in Maharashtra’s Akola district (Rahu-Jupiter-Mercury dasha) led to the defamation case as Jupiter is the 3rd Lord[Communication] retrograde[Erratic] and Mercury in 8th House both in Rashi and Navmansa Chart .

Hidden Influence of Venus:
This configuration points toward a court case, but not clearly toward humiliation—so why was that not evident?
On closer examination, I found that Saturn is in the Nakshatra of Venus (Bharani), while Venus is in the Nakshatra of Saturn (Pushya). Venus, crucially, is the 8th lord—the significator of humiliation. Thus, indirectly, Venus—the 8th lord in both the Rashi chart and the Navamsa chart—is actively influencing the Dasha.
In the D-9 chart, Saturn is placed in the 2nd house with the Sun the 11th Lord , its dire enemy, and is aspected by Mercury from the 8th house (again indicating humiliation). Moreover, Mercury is in sign exchange with Venus, the 8th lord—strengthening the hidden influence of the 8th house across divisional charts.
Ketu’s Role in Litigation
Now, the question arises—why, during the Pratyantar Dasha of Ketu in the 11th house of gains, was the case not quashed by the Supreme Court?
Astrology is a profoundly complex science, intricate and difficult to master. While the 11th house is traditionally seen as a house of gains, it also serves as the secondary house for court cases, being the 6th from the 6th house. This derivative relationship (Bhavat Bhavam) shifts the nature of the 11th house in this context—from fulfillment to continuation or reinforcement of litigation matters. Moreover the sign Lord of Ketu, Sun is also under aspect of Jupiter the 6th Lord of litigation .
Thus, Ketu’s presence in the 11th house during its Pratyantar Dasha could signify the karmic continuation or reactivation of legal entanglements rather than their resolution. This subtle influence likely contributed to the Supreme Court's decision to decline quashing the summons.
Upcoming Challenges
He will enter the Dasha of Rahu–Saturn–Venus from 29th May 2025, and this period needs to be handled carefully. Although Saturn (the 4th and 5th Lord) and Venus (the Lagna Lord and 8th Lord) are engaged in a Nakshatra exchange and positioned in the 7th and 10th houses—forming a powerful Raj Yoga that played a key role in his elevation to the position of Leader of the Opposition with cabinet minister status—there are notable weaknesses that must be acknowledged.
Venus is quite weak in the D-9 chart and also lacks directional strength in the 10th house of Rashi Chart , which reduces its positive effects. Saturn is also weak in Aries though with directional strength in Rashi Chart . Since Venus is also the 8th lord, connected to issues like setbacks, scandals, or humiliation, this time may bring challenges—especially in public life or career.
So, it is important for him to stay cautious and avoid any kind of controversy or negative attention between 29th May and 18th November 2025.
Bandhan Yoga in Rahul Gandhi’s Chart:
As per Jyotish Ratnakar (Page 745),
Bandhan Yoga occurs when the Lagna Lord and 6th House Lord are in Kendra (1st, 4th, 7th, or 10th houses) or Trikona (1st, 5th, or 9th houses), and Saturn is connected to them. In Rahul Gandhi’s Tula Lagna chart, this yoga is present, indicating legal or restrictive challenges.
• Key Planets: Venus (Lagna Lord) is in the 10th house (Kendra), and Jupiter (6th Lord, litigation) is in the 1st house (Kendra and Trikona). Saturn is in the 7th house (Kendra).
• Saturn’s Influence: Saturn aspects Jupiter and is in Nakshatra exchange with Venus (Saturn in Bharani, Venus in Pushya), linking all three planets.
• Bandhan Yoga Confirmed: With Venus in the 10th, Jupiter in the 1st, Saturn in the 7th, and their connections, Bandhan Yoga is formed.
Impact: This yoga suggests legal troubles or restrictions, as seen in Rahul’s defamation case and Supreme Court warning on April 25, 2025. It aligns with his Rahu–Saturn–Ketu Dasha, explaining ongoing legal issues.
Conclusion:
Rahul Gandhi’s current Dasha of Rahu–Saturn–Ketu, along with retrograde Jupiter, shows a strong connection to legal troubles. Venus, being the 8th lord, quietly brings in the element of humiliation, which helps explain the recent Supreme Court warning.
The influence of the 6th house (court cases) and 11th house (continuation of disputes) kept the legal issues active. Ketu in the 11th house further shows that the problems didn’t end.
Bandhan Yoga in Rahul Gandhi’s chart, formed by Venus (Lagna Lord) in the 10th house, Jupiter (6th Lord) in the 1st house, and Saturn in the 7th house, with Saturn aspecting Jupiter and in Nakshatra exchange with Venus (Saturn in Bharani, Venus in Pushya), signifies legal challenges and restrictions.
Looking ahead, the upcoming Rahu–Saturn–Venus Dasha, starting 29th May 2025, will require extra care to avoid controversy or public embarrassment.
This case shows how astrology is a deep and complex science—factors like Nakshatraexchange, different Yogas and Bhavat Bhavam (house-from-house) play a key role and need detailed analysis to understand events fully.
