End of an Era: Murray's Wimbledon Career Ends as Raducanu Withdraws from Mixed Doubles

The recent news from BBC highlights Andy Murray's final Wimbledon appearance, where he and his brother Jamie lost in doubles, alongside Emma Raducanu's withdrawal from the doubles competition. However, it's important to note that Raducanu, at 21 years old, is continuing to compete in the singles matches. She mentioned having "some stiffness" in her right wrist. Andy Murray plans to retire later this year, and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be his last event.

Raducanu's journey in Wimbledon has been notable, especially after her dominant two-set victory over Greek ninth seed Maria Sakkari, advancing her to the fourth round of the women's singles. I am unable to comment on Emma Raducanu's birth chart as her reliable birth details are not available.

As a sports enthusiast and astrologer, these developments are significant. Murray's farewell alongside his brother adds a touching element to his Wimbledon legacy, while Raducanu'sdecision to focus on singles after mentioning wrist stiffness could impact her strategy and performance in the tournament. It is important to note that Murray was not permitted to find a replacement partner for Raducanu under tournament rules because the draw had already been made.

Let me explore the reasons from his chart, as his birth details are available on Astrodatabankwith an AA rating.

Sun, the ruler of the Ascendant (Lagna), is in the 10th House[Honour] along with Mercury, who rules the 2nd House (finances) and 11th House (gains). Saturn, which signifies challenges and competition (6th Lord), and the Moon, ruler of the 12th House (expenditure), are both influencing Sun and Mercury. Jupiter as 5th Lord[intelligence ] aspecting the Saturn[7th Lord] in 4th House is a half Rajyoga . But I'm still not satisfied, and the question that comes to my mind is why he is considered a great player according to astrology. As an astrologer, I'm keen to understand what makes Andy Murray's chart special in making him a successful tennis player, particularly winning Wimbledon in 2013 and 2016.But Another noteworthy aspect in Andy Murray's chart is the placement of the 3rd Lord[Sports] Venus  in the Ashwini constellation, in 9th House, which is considered a Rajyoga according to Phaldeepika, a classical text of Indian  astrology. Moreover, the 3rd Lord Venus is aspecting the 3rd House in its own sign. He won Wimbledon during the Vimshottari Dasha periods of Venus-Mercury-Venus and Venus-Ketu-Saturn, with Ketu positioned in the sign of Mercury.

And Mercury in the 10th House of honor and achievements.

The combination of Saturn and Moon in the 4th House forming Punarpoo Yoga signifies a cycle where there may be initial challenges, setbacks, or disappointments ("first there is a failure"). However, it also indicates the potential for a return to success or a resurgence ("thereafter there is return to success" or "re-blossom"). This yoga suggests a pattern of experiencing difficulties or obstacles followed by eventual achievements or triumphs. Saturn and Moon, aspected by Jupiter (5th Lord), contributed to his handsomeness and popularity. The Sun's influence made him prosperous with wealth, and Mercury's aspect enhanced his skills and proficiency.

Now let us understand the reasons why he was unlucky in the current Wimbledon 2024.

He was under the Mahadasha of Moon, which is the 12th Lord, placed in the 4th House along with Saturn[6th Lord, 7th Lord], and under the aspect of Sun, the Lagna Lord, Mercury (also the 11th and 2nd Lord) from 10th House , and Jupiter (the 8th and 5th Lord) from 8th House of RashiChart . The Antardasha Lord Rahu was positioned in the 8th House, and the Pratyantar DashaLord Jupiter was also in the 8th House, acting as the 8th Lord of Rashi Chart . The prominence of the 8th House is evident with both the Antardasha Lord (Rahu) and Pratyantar Dasha Lord (Jupiter) situated there, alongside Moon being aspected by the 8th Lord (Jupiter).

In Indian astrology, the 8th House is regarded as the house of change, defeat, misery, and intense mental trouble. In  Navmansha Chart , Moon is in the 6th house , which represents obstacles and challenges. Rahu is placed in the 3rd house, which is considered a favorable position. However, Rahu is in the sign of Jupiter, who is the 6th Lord, indicating complexities related to health, enemies, or obstacles. Additionally, Jupiter is in Aquarius along with its sign Lord Saturn. It is important to note that Moon not only aspects the 12th House but is also under a constellation exchange with Mercury, who is the 12th Lord in Navmansha Chart. Mercury is also afflicted by the aspect of Saturn and Mars, the two malefics.

The influence of the 8th house, which is 12th from the 9th house (the House of luck), may be the reason why Emma Raducanu withdrew from mixed doubles while continuing to play in singles. The 12th house represents loss and endings, and when considering it from the perspective of the 9th house (luck and fortune), it suggests potential setbacks or challenges affecting one's fortunes or opportunities.

In transit, the Antardasha Lord Rahu is in Pisces, which is the 8th House[Change] from Murray's Rashi  chart. Additionally, Saturn is in Aquarius, and Jupiter in Taurus is aspecting the 12th Lord Moon, potentially activating influences related to retirement or withdrawal from activities.

In the Vimshottari Dasha, he is under Moon as the 12th Lord (associated with retirement), Rahuin the 8th house (related to change), and Jupiter[8th Lord] also in the 8th house, aspecting the 12th House (again associated with retirement). Based on the Dasha pattern of Moon-Rahu-Jupiter until 14th September 2024, it suggests that retirement or significant changes in his career or life path could be indicated during this period.

We all deeply miss this exceptional tennis player at Wimbledon.
